What is an Opt-In
Mailing List? They might be subscribing to your ezine or a newsletter. Some mailing
lists are to let visitors know when your page has been updated and others
are to let them know about some great new deals they can take advantage
of.
Your mailing can be whatever you want it to be, as long as what you
tell people they are opting-in for is what you actually send. Why do I need one?

What if I just have a homepage? Some of the best sites on the web started out as "homepages" and continued on to sell products, turned into ezines or just built up a large following. Wouldn't you regret it if two years from now you have let all of the interested people get away without leaving their address?Consider also that many homepages now use affiliate programs, allowing them to earn some income. If you have even one affiliate program on your page you should be staying in touch with your visitors. Many affiliate programs offer specials periodically and you'll want to let your audience know about them. Ever been to a site you really liked and planned to go back to but then just forgot about it? If you had signed up for their opt-in mailing list you would have been reminded of it when their next mailing went out. Don't let people forget about your site. Remind them with your own opt-in list! What's the difference between an opt-in list and spam? The "opt-in" is the difference, along with the "opt-out". Spam is sending unsolicited email to people who did not ask for it and probably don't want it. Most webservers will cancel your account for sending spam. An opt-in list gives your visitors the option of receiving mail from you. Not only do they choose to have you send them mail but they can easily be removed from your list at any time because at the bottom of every piece of mail you send out with our Opt-In Mailing List Program, there is a link that allows them to be removed from the list. This is the way to use email for promotion responsibly.
